The Hopeless Romantics are Dead.
We all moved too far from one another and joined other bands.

Our History:

James Conner, Cyle Rowe, Brent Barton, and Chase Litchfield all started a band called "The King Dorks" back in the spring of 2001, in Yucaipa High School's Rock Club.  We played a very pop-punk type of style doing mostly punk covers of oldies songs like "Brown Eyed Girl" (Van Morrison) and "Just What I Needed" (The Cars).  We used to also cover songs from MxPx, Slick Shoes, and even (vomit) old Good Charlotte.  Our original songs were about the silliest things ranging from "I've Still Got My Dreams" about a nerd having a crush on miss popular all the way to "Midgets Moshing" about a punk rock midget we saw at a Filthy Vagrants show.

We changed our names a couple times and even added another member, David Renich, before we broke up into 2 bands a little over a year later.  James, Chase, Cyle, and David split into a band called "Hawk From Handsaw" while James, Brent and Chase comprised "The Hopeless Romantics".  This was only a side project for Chase and James aside from their other band.  We did a few shows with just us three (no bass player) and then added Kyle Bean on bass, who worked with Brent at Krikorian Theatres.  About 2 shows later Chase left the band in the hands of Brent for vocals so that he could focus purely on Hawk From Handsaw.  At this point James was in both bands... bless his heart.

After a few months of Brent, James, and Kyle doing shows and such we hit the studio in December of 2002 for the first time to record what we would later call our "We're Better Live" EP (despite the name it was actually good for having only been a band for 3 months).

After about 5 months of doing a small handfull of shows we picked up another guitar player named Alex Ahumada after our Feb 28th, 2003 show at the White Rabbit in Yucaipa (** The King Dorks were the first band to ever play there and a few years later The Hopeless Romantics were the last band to play there).

James, Brent, Kyle, and Alex hadn't actually performed a show before Alex had to leave for college in Arizona, but we were able to hit the studio for our 2nd recording "Time Spent Alone" (Alex actually had to leave before we were finished with the record).

Having gone back to just Kyle, Brent, and James we hadn't really done a lot of shows because of our busy college schedules and such.  (we are still kind of stuck in that right now)  In August of 2003, James quit the other band with Chase because two bands and college were more than James could keep up with.

In early October of 2003 we added Justin Duran to the band.  Currently Justin is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist and Brent is the secondary singer and lead guitarist.  Kyle still plays bass and provides back up vocals for BOTH the songs the songs that Brent still sings and the songs that Justin sings when we do shows.

In April of 2003 Chase, Brent, and Justin all hit the studio together to record "A Brief History" EP to catalogue where we the band has been.
